My son’s new gig … Capital Hockey Inc. Together with founder Kenny Sousa my son Andrew have started a new business offering hockey skills development to kids across the GTA.
We started on the logo about a month ago. The boys wanted “NHLish” like The Capitals logo so we started there and ended up with someone black and red instead of blue and red to give a more “Canadian” look.
The boys needed a website up and running fast, this site took me under 3 hours to start to finish.
I used the WordPress out of the box theme TwentyThirteen and it came together nicely, so I decided to go with it. I was able to add the slideshow and sidebar to the home page with custom graphic header.
When I told my son to have a look at the site, of course he looked at on his iPhone and was disappointed, “Where’s the logo?”.
In this day and age people are running business almost exclusively from there mobile device to it’s imperative to have a website that is mobile responsive.
I added the plugin WP Touch to make this site mobile friendly. It worked perfectly, I could even assign a custom page for small screen that features the logo and contact info front and center.
To finish off I installed All In One SEO and added keywords and descriptions for high rankings in search engines. I also verified the site in google, submitted to all major search engines and made an xml sitemap.
Hopefully this is only the beginning of this website. Congratulations Capital Hockey Inc. Here’s hoping for a huge success teaching kids to play Canada’s game in a safe and fun environment.
